Santa Sighting (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Santa Sighting mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, disclosed, and protected when you use the App.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Santa Sighting consumer-facing mobile application. The App is available to users in the United States and internationally.
The App does not require user accounts or authentication and does not collect personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers.

Information You Provide
The App allows users to upload photos only.
These photos are used solely for in-app functionality and are not used for identification, marketing, or advertising purposes.
Automatically Collected Information
The App collects limited technical data necessary for functionality and stability, including:
- Device ID
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token
- Crash data and diagnostics, including crash logs, stack traces, and basic device information
This information is not tied to a user account and is associated only with the device.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Company name
- Login credentials
- IP address
- Location data (precise or approximate)
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
Firebase (Google Cloud)
Used for:
- Firebase Analytics (app usage insights and stability trends)
- Crash reporting (Crashlytics)
- Push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging
Firebase may collect anonymized technical data necessary to provide these services.
Google Gemini API
User pre-defined input is sent to the Google Gemini API only for generating AI-based responses within the App.
This data is not used for advertising and is not retained by us for profiling or marketing purposes.
Backend Services
A custom Laravel backend receives:
- Device IDs
- FCM tokens
This data is used solely to support app functionality such as notifications and feature operation.
How We Use Information
Collected data is used only to:
- Operate and maintain App functionality
- Improve performance, stability, and reliability
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Support push notifications
The App does not use data for advertising or marketing.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data.
Information may be shared only:
- With service providers (Firebase, Google Gemini API) strictly for App functionality
- When required by law or legal process
- To protect the security and integrity of the App
Data Retention
Device-related data is retained only for as long as necessary to support App functionality, diagnostics, and security, or as required by law.
Photos uploaded by users are used only within the App experience and are not retained longer than necessary to deliver that functionality.
